CABINET PAINTING · METRO DETROIT

Cabinet painting when the details matter more than a quick color change.

Painting existing cabinets can change the feeling of a kitchen without changing its layout. It also requires more careful evaluation than painting a typical wall. Tell Peter about the cabinet material, current finish and the result you want.

WHAT MATTERS

A cabinet finish is only as good as its preparation.

Cabinet doors are handled, cleaned and touched every day. Oils, household cleaners and previous finishes can complicate adhesion. The material under the paint matters too: solid wood, previously painted doors, laminate and damaged veneers are not interchangeable.

Before committing to a cabinet job, consider the condition of door fronts, drawer faces, frames, hardware, trim and any existing damage. Ask what can be coated successfully, what would need repair and which areas are included in the bid.

Peter’s painting experience spans more than 30 years. Cabinet painting is a detail-oriented project, so we recommend an honest discussion about surface suitability and expectations before quoting the work.

PROJECT SCOPE

What to talk through before work begins

Scope and surface condition determine the plan. The items below are conversation starters, not promises that every optional service is included.

Doors & drawer fronts

Evaluate cabinet face condition, hardware handling, sheen and finish goals.

Frames & visible panels

Check how the finished doors will meet the visible cabinet boxes and fillers.

Detailed trim & transitions

Discuss adjacent molding, painted doors and other areas that affect the final appearance.

A CLEARER ESTIMATE

What changes a cabinet painting estimate?

A detailed bid helps you compare the work being proposed—not just the final number. Peter's work is positioned on experience and quality, rather than being the lowest-priced option.

MACOMB COUNTY · MICHIGAN
MICHIGAN CONTEXT

A useful option for established Metro Detroit kitchens

Many homeowners in Clinton Township and surrounding Macomb County communities want a fresher kitchen without changing cabinets that still function well. Paint may be an option, but it is not a fix for every failing surface or damaged cabinet. A professional evaluation should come before any promise of a flawless result.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you request an estimate

Answers depend on the surfaces, condition and project scope. A conversation is better than a blanket promise.

Are all cabinets good candidates for painting?

No. The material, previous coating, damage and adhesion risks can make some surfaces poor candidates.

Do cabinet interiors have to be painted too?

Not necessarily. Decide whether the estimate includes only visible doors and frames or also shelves and interiors.

Will the finish be the same as factory-new cabinets?

A painted existing cabinet may look excellent, but expectations should account for the underlying material, age and previous finish.

Should I combine cabinet work with trim and door painting?

It may be convenient to discuss related interior work together, especially when coordinating colors and finish sheen.
